The Practice
Building the organization they always wanted
Jonathan Mueller has spent more than 15 years in ABA. In 2017 he and two co-founders set out to build the organization they always wanted to be part of: Ascend Behavior Partners, an early-intervention provider serving children ages 0 to 6, headquartered in Colorado with services in Phoenix and Tucson. Roughly 80% of the families Ascend serves have Medicaid as primary or secondary. “We don’t want to be the biggest, but we do want to be the best.”

Why boost & What's next
Technology built to get practices paid.
Ascend kept Hi Rasmus for clinical data and moved practice management and revenue cycle management to Boost. Two things decided it: an industry-leading claim-scrubbing engine built on payer contract and compliance architecture, and an RCM team led by people who have operated ABA companies themselves. Boost runs eligibility, authorizations, credentialing and scheduling; Hi Rasmus captures what happens in session; Boost turns that care into a clean claim. Next up: scheduling intelligence for field supervisors, a built-in CRM for intake, and agentic reporting.
Good collections weren't good enough.
The challenge
Before Boost, Ascend worked with a billing partner and collected 93%+. Not bad for the industry, but not high enough for stable financial results. Jonathan went looking for a leading measure of collections and landed on one few ABA providers track: the clean claim rate. In his view it is the single most important metric a provider has, because it is influenceable and predicts the cash you ultimately collect.
“Boost is the first one I’m aware of that built the technology from the perspective of: we need you to get paid for the services you provide. That’s foundational to why we’ve had the success we’ve had.”
